FLAT PACK LAMP
The HALO lamp was the 1st-place winner of the Designing Green competition at Auburn University in the Spring of 2017. Teams were given 24 hours to conceptualize, design, and present a product following the sustainable strategies guide.
This meant designing a product that implemented:
an optimized lifetime.
The HALO lamp was designed with sustainability in mind. It's two-part, FSC plywood construction attempts to minimize waste and maximize utility while maintaining a modern aesthetic.
Using a positive-negative technique, the lamp is flat-packed for efficient shipping. Despite its 2-dimensional origin, it is able to assume an elegant 3-dimensional form due to kerfing along its neck.
Made of only 4 total components, it is easily repaired and reassembled with replacement parts.
Approximately 33 individual units can be produced from a standard 4' x 8' x ¾" sheet of plywood.
