I'm Benton Humphreys, an aspiring industrial user-interface user-expe
designer with an interest in understanding the underlying reasons of why
we design. My aspirations stem from a desire to contribute to the evolving human-technological landscape while leaving a net positive effect on this world through my work.
My design process has evolved with my professional and academic experiences over the last few years. Auburn University has provided me with a core design foundation, fostering a passion for design theory, systems thinking, and an analytical approach to problem solving. In May 2017, I opted to join the Industrial Design Operations team at GE Appliances
for one year as an Industrial Design Co-Op. Following this experience, I remained in a human-centered design role and joined the Industrial Design & Human Factors team as a Co-Op with Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson)
, during which I contributed to new product ideation and usability testing. Perhaps more impactful, however, was my exposure to (and subsequent interest in) the field of User-Experience research and design, and working within interdisciplinary teams during this time.
I am currently finishing my last semester of undergraduate Industrial Design studios at Auburn University, after which I intend to pursue a Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction.
